Don’t Fight Mad: A Black Belt’s Quest to Recapture Joy is my first book. It stemmed from a speech I gave a few years ago at a University of Texas Austin Graduate Women in Business event. That night I talked to 250 newly minted MBAs about resilient leadership, using martial arts as a metaphor for life. The 30 minute presentation morphed into this book—a map of sorts to not just surviving life’s difficulties but finding a way through to joy.
We’ve all taken some hard punches and felt like throwing in the towel. But learning to fight the right way—refusing to accept a life bereft of joy—means we can take a punch and keep going. We can recapture the beauty of our lives and the treasure of our selves.
