I love that he wanted to SEE the color options! Praying for many happy excursions in his red scooter! (And for patience in the waiting for delivery and that it comes in a timely manner without any aggravating follow up calls.) praying right now for the Audiology appointment you are likely in as I write this. May it go as smoothly as yesterday! God bless those lovely people at the VA!!
And lastly, Lord, would you open up the house next door for Dad and enable him to finally settle in.
Cindy, Interesting that I'm reading your post on Memorial Day. We can appreciate the sacrifices that individual people like your father--and other human beings---have made to serve our country. We can appreciate those who serve the healthcare needs of our veterans. And we can do these things even if we do not support our country's gigantic military budget and violent foreign policies.
“I’m grateful for the lesson: Take a deep breath before unloading on someone. Remember the delta between institutional indifference and personal concern.”
Love that you and your dad found the lovely people that are willing to help - great too that he gets to have a red scooter. You are doing wonders Cindy!
You are sweet to say so. When the nurse asked if I were his daughter, he said, "No, she's my angel." It was so special. I'm grateful to have the chance.
'Institutionally they may suck, but individually they are amazing.' I've found that to be the case in almost all situations when dealing with a large organization.
This is such a great reminder! It also reminds me of when my Dad was still with us and going to the VA for regular treatment. Always has a special place in my heart!

Amen! Thank you so much for your warm wishes and kind prayers.
Thank you, Cindy! Your story is fuel for my personal, everyday effort to do a little better, be a little more patient, and less judgmental.
Thank you for reading! I want to be better, too =)

It’s a fascinating (and disheartening) fact.
