Vacation?
Apparently, I'm allowed one
I’ve been writing a weekly Substack essay for just over two years. It’s been a joy—but it’s sometimes come at the expense of my other writing. I don’t begrudge the work, because I love writing on this platform and engaging with readers.
But I have a deadline to finish my novel and I’m woefully behind schedule.
Just last week, a dear friend and fellow writer Diane Osgood gave me a revolutionary suggestion: Why don’t you take August off from Substack and use that time to finish your novel?
What? What kind of crazy talk is that?
But the longer I considered her wise words, the more they felt right. So here I am, preparing to take August off from Substack. I’m going to be heads down writing the final book of the Blooming Series quadrilogy. It’s truly liberating.
I hope you’ll take some time to read some of my earlier essays, particularly if you’re a newer subscriber or follower. I’ll definitely be back to my weekly posts in September.
Wishing you a gorgeous end of summer, full of joy.
Wish me luck—Lauren is the last of the friends I’m writing about and she is a handful….

Brava! And i don't believe in 'deserving' a break. It's simply smart, healthy, and wise.
Prayers for creativity and productivity!
See you in September! 🙏❤️
